FAQs
When was NothingCanTopit founded?
Nothing Can Topit was founded in 2000 in Los Angeles, California by Randi Burton as an independent support service to magicians working in the greater Los Angeles area.
What is the focus of Nothing CanTopit?
At Nothing Can Topit we focus on prop management for the discerning magician. The goal is to maintain a professional look, while discreetly carrying props.
How are the Topits made?
All Topits and pockets are individually tailored to your figure, sewn in by hand, and additional pockets can be added into your performance wear. I prefer to sew with Bemberg Rayon or other high quality suit linings, which is no longer easily sourced. Satin lining can be used by special request.
What Topit styles do you feature?
Topit styles by Michael Ammar, Jay Scott Berry (installation of presewn topit with zippers), Daniel Sylvester’s Suspended Dimension, Jim Cellini’s busking topit, and slides for Interlaced can all be installed.
What are your other services?
General tailoring services are also available. Other services include custom bags for additional items in one’s act, such as linking rings, foulards, bags for the Zombie ball, varying cases for cups and balls, ties with pockets, different sizes of cards, etc. Lectures about quality suit construction for magicians are available for your magic club or organization.
What is your biggest secret?
The tailor’s secret is in the interior construction of the suit and quality of materials used.
Do you work sustainably?
Materials are sustainably sourced. All remnant fabric is sewn into smaller and smaller pockets so that there is minimal waste. Leather is sourced in Los Angeles County. Everything is generally one of a kind due to working with small materials.
Who makes your products?
All products are handmade by Randi in Los Angeles California. This is a woman-owned business. Randi was voted 2025 Small Business in La Crescenta on Alignable in March 2025.
